Glee: 5 Awesome Celebrity Guest Stars and 5 That Sucked

5 Awesome Celebrity Guest Stars...

5. Neil Patrick Harris as "Bryan Ryan"

If there was ever a perfect actor for a role on this show it has to be Broadway, Television, Film and 3 time Tony Award Host Neil Patrick Harris. The reason for his inclusion on this list is not because I liked the character that he played at all. This was an obvious moment of stunt casting in the first season of Glee and his character didn't really have a real place being there. He came in for one episode, kind of considered ending the schools Glee Club program and then was convinced not to. The End. There are two reasons he is included. The first is that his character gave the character of Will Schuester something to do, and allowed him to have more screen-time (he played Will's former classmate and Glee club rival). People forget now that Glee is in it's fourth season that Will started off the show (at least the Pilot) as the central character. The show began as a teachers struggle to create a winning Glee Club and was seen pretty much entirely from Will's point of view. The second reason is that Neil Patrick Harris has a superb singing voice, and his duet with Will singing Aerosmith's "Dream On" is one of the best duets on the entire show.

I am a recent Screenwriting for Film and Television graduate from the UK. I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future. (As of January 2013 I have had over 1 million views since joining WhatCulture in September 2012. You can reach me at danieljamesbowen@hotmail.co.uk)
