Gotham Season 5: 6 Major Questions We Have After Trespassers

5. Who Is Controlling Ed Nygma?

Poor Edward Nygma really can't catch a break. The intelligent antagonist has suffered greatly during his time on the Fox series, but this season he's been more confused than ever.

During Year Zero, it became apparent that Ed was suffering from blackouts. It was first thought that Good Ed had once again taken control of Nygma's body, and was deliberately getting up to no good while Bad Ed slept, merely to peeve off his other personality.

However, Trespasser seemingly shed a little light on this - with emphasis on the 'little' - as it's evident that whoever is controlling Nygma has a motive and a purpose for doing so. In other words, during those memory lapses, the Prince of Puzzlers is being made to do someone else's dirty work.

While it's not made explicitly clear who is behind Nygma's memory loss, it is hard to forget that Dr. Hugo Strange is the one who brought him back from the dead, so the likelihood is is that the villainous medic is up to his old tricks again, using The Riddler to carry out his devilish requests.
