Hannibal: 10 Greatest 'Holy Sh*t!' Moments So Far

9. The Man Buried in Mushrooms

Episode: Amuse-Bouche The second episode jumps quite a long way in the "killer of the week" department. The killer in this episode encases his victims in fertiliser and lets them slowly decompose as they lie in a medically induced coma. This method haunts the imagination more than almost any other kill in the series, due to its disturbing implications, but it also leads to one of the show's most shocking moments. Will Graham is investigating this row of buried mushroom-men, and one of them grabs his arm, revealing himself to be still alive. Aside from the homage to the most terrifying scene in David Fincher's Seven, this scene gives the implication that being saved from this fate would probably be more horrifying than death itself.
