Homer Simpson's 25 Greatest Moments

24. Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Pig

From: The Simpsons Movie (2007) When the Simpsons made their silver screen début in 2007, they had to be on the top of their game to prove that they could make it beyond their usual home of television. Thankfully, right from the off The Simpsons Movie was rife with the expected laughs of the series - the highlight being Homer's relationship with his new pet pig. However, Homer's beloved pig is not just used for laughs but helps to incite one of the sub-plots of the film, that of Bart wishing cheery neighbourino Ned Flanders was his father, after Homer spends all his time with the animal, which must be said does a cracking impression of Marge. Nonetheless, we all remember The Pig Formally Known as Harry Plopper for Homer's show-stopping 'Spider-Pig' song. Everyone now: 'Spider-Pig, Spider-Pig, does whatever a Spider-Pig does. Can he swing from a web? No, he can't, he's a pig...' Marge's blank reaction to the scene is a gem.

23. Oh, Brother...

From: Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? (Season 2, Episode 15) Every yin has its yang and while Homer isn't the smartest Simpson (or, as he spells it, S-M-R-Test) his half-brother, millionaire Herb Powell seems to have got all the brains. Voiced by Danny DeVito, Herb is living the high life as the CEO of his own motor company - that is, until he lets his newly-discovered brother design a car... Intended as a car for the everyman, Homer spends all of his brother's fortune on The Homer, an unwieldy monstrosity that cots Herb his business. As Homer himself says, you can't help but think that maybe Homer is somewhat responsible. This episode serves as a strong reminder that, though he might be one of the great TV characters, you really wouldn't want to let Homer Simpson into your life. Thankfully, it's a lot more fun just to watch from behind the safety of the television screen.

22. 'In Your Face, Space Coyote!'

From: El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer (The Mysterious Voyage of Homer) In one of the strangest and most surreal episodes of The Simpsons ever made, Homer eats an extremely hot chilli and proceeds to enter into a psychedelic dreamscape where he meets a talking coyote, voiced by Johnny Cash! Yes, you read that correctly. As well as sporting some terrific animation, the hallucination scene results in much hilarity including a tortoise that Homer is meant to follow (only to kick far away to make it go quicker) and a sun that Homer can control by walking back and forth ('Sunrise. Sunset. Sunrise. Sunset...' *Sun shatters*) while it is Homer's reactions that make it come alive. The coyote is apparently Homer's spirit guide who sends him on a quest to find his true soulmate, after Homer and Marge argue. After much soulmate-searching (well, enough to fill a twenty-minute episode), Homer discovers that Marge does understand him and really is his soulmate. 'In you face, Space Coyote!' he shouts to the sky. 'Space coyote?' replies Marge. It must be fun being married to Homer...
