Idiot Abroad: Ricky Gervais Sends Karl Pilkington & Warwick Davis The Short Way Round

Sky 1 will broadcast the two 1-hour Christmas specials in which the duo will follow in the footsteps of famous explorer Marco Polo from Italy to China.

Ricky Gervais has once again persuaded his round-headed friend Karl Pilkington to embark on a new epic journey across the world. And this time he won't be alone. Actor Warwick Davis, star of Gervais' sitcom "Life's Too Short", will accompany the often agitated Pilkington in "An Idiot Abroad: The Short Way Round", two 1-hour Christmas specials in which they will follow in the footsteps of famous explorer Marco Polo from Italy to China. The 500 mile journey takes the odd pairing from Venice to Eastern Europe to India and China as "they get stuck into different cultures and traditions, illuminated by Karl€™s trademark observations about the world and Warwick€™s varying experiences as a little person in different countries." The pairing of Pilkington and Davis is mouth-watering, especially as Karl's previous time talking about the actor on the podcasts or when he spoke to him in the last series, usually revolved around Karl inadvertently being offensive to Warwick! An Idiot Abroad: The Short Way Round will air on Sky 1 HD and Sky 1 exclusively from December 1st, 2012. This might be the last of 'The Idiot Abroad' series as Gervais and his co-writer/producer Stephen Merchant don't usually like to venture into third series territory. Ricky Gervais said:
€œKarl once said to me that opposites attract. Warwick Davis is sociable, hardworking and never complains. They should get along fine.€
Karl Pilkington added:
€œI don't know how it will work out. Honestly. Edmund Hillary had that Tenzing fella, Ben Fogle had James Cracknell. I've been given an Ewok.€
