Iron Fist Season 2 Review: 5 Ups & 7 Downs

Downs...

7. Danny Rand Remains A Dull Protagonist

Iron Fist Season 2
Netflix

One of the most common complaints about the show's first season was that Danny Rand (Finn Jones) simply wasn't a very interesting protagonist.

Aside from being a not-so-fresh spin on the same privileged, rich white superhero we've seen so many times before, Danny wasn't particularly likeable nor had much personality to compensate.

While Finn Jones seems more comfortable and confident in the role this time - though many will still argue he's miscast here - Danny Rand continues to feel like dead weight in his own show, which is a bit of a shame.

His self-deprecating stint in The Defenders seemed to suggest a turnaround for the hero, but season two is basically back to business as usual, where Rand feels like a bland, stock protagonist when stood next to the effervescent, likeable Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick).

The fact this key issue hasn't been ironed out after two seasons is pretty damn worrying.
