The greatest show on TV is set to return.

While it started as a tiny sitcom that no one watched, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia has grown to become one of TV's most beloved shows.

Following a gang of self-centred and mean-spirited bar owners, the show's seemingly offensive but secretly progressive discourse and the hectic and absurd ventures the gang get in to has won the hearts of viewers all over the world.

The show is expected to soon overtake The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet as the live-action sitcom with the most seasons, and fans are begging the show to reach the milestone to justify their love of it.

And now it's coming back, with the 13th season in development despite cast issues and production hardships, and fans couldn't be happier to return to Paddy's Pub and hang out with perhaps the maddest people in the world.

The show is perhaps not returning in the way fans know and love it, however. There have been casting and production changes, especially seeing that the show performs very poorly for FXX when it is aired and does incredibly well on streaming services, especially for Hulu for whom it is one of the most popular shows.

Before the show comes out, and fans decide if they love or hate it, let's run through everything we know about it so far.

6. The Release Date

Thankfully, the most important piece of information was announced with the official confirmation of It's Always Sunny Season 13 at the end of June.

The first episode of the season is to be dropped on September 5, a Wednesday. To fans' delight, that date is only two months after the announcement - not much time to wait at all.

The last few seasons have all been released in January, breaking this pattern, but traditionally the show has a premiere at some point in the fall, particularly in September, so the show is going back to its roots in this regard.

It was widely reported that there would be a lengthy hiatus between the twelfth and thirteenth seasons, however the break is only marginally longer than that between the 9th and 10th seasons.

I'm based in the UK, looking to make a career out of writing about entertainment and culture. The only thing I like as much as watching films, playing games or listening to music is enjoying as much hummus and crisps as I can while I do so. My favourite film is Eddie the Eagle and I like any game that lets me wander around beautiful worlds (or eat hummus and crisps).
