Jon Bernthal Cast As The Punisher For Daredevil Season 2

The Walking Dead star will be bringing some vigilante justice to Hell's Kitchen

Marvel has officially announced that Jon Bernthal has been cast as The Punisher, with the character set to appear in the second season of the acclaimed Netflix original series Daredevil. The popular actor is best known for his portrayal of Shane on AMC's The Walking Dead, and news that he'll be the new Frank Castle has many fans excited. Bernthal took to Twitter to thank people for their support of the announcement with a message that read "Thanks for the love yall. Let's get it. Honored." https://twitter.com/jonnybernthal/status/608370116041043968 There aren't many details available yet on the character's involvement except that Marvel has stated that The Punisher will have a "big presence" in the series. Bernthal's geek cred continues to rise with this role, as the vigilante is one of Marvel's most popular characters. His exploits will also fit perfectly within the already established world of Hell's Kitchen and the R-rated environment the show provides. This will be the fourth version of The Punisher to hit the screen since 1989, following in the footsteps of the versions brought to life by Dolph Lundgren, Thomas Jane and Ray Stevenson. Head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb said of the casting: "Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences. Castle€™s appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same.€ This is good news for fans of both Daredevil and The Punisher and continues to build on the momentum created by the tremendous success of the first season.
