One of the subtler things that makes Legion truly special is the show's quaint and relaxed soundtrack. In the days of popular songs being used in TV in movies for no other reason than because they're popular songs, it can be very easy to forget just how effective a thoughtfully put-together soundtrack can be in regards to visual storytelling.

Legion utilizes melodious, mostly acoustic songs and to great effect. In between the action and drama, you see plenty of the characters' personal struggles and daily lives. This, combined with the show's predominant woodland setting, compliments the soothing style of music perfectly.

Moreover, this style of music can also effectively accompany action scenes when done right and Legion more than did it right, the fight at the lighthouse in Chapter 4 being especially brilliant. The wonderful choreography, cinematography and editing were the glue that held that scene together, but it was the inclusion of the song "Undiscovered First" that truly made it one of the stand-out sequences in a show that is already filled to the brim with incredible moments.

In addition, what sets Legion's soundtrack apart from those of other great shows is the way the songs and what you see on screen mesh together. Rather than the songs simply complimenting their respective scenes, it goes both ways, with the scenes complimenting the songs to an equal degree. This causes the respective aspects to instead feel like one unitary entity, as opposed to two separate ingredients, as it were.
