Legion: 9 Ways It's A Totally Unique Comic Book TV Show

8. Nor Is It Really About Superpowers

Much like it's not about heroes, Legion isn't really too focused on the other part of the word 'superhero' either.

Sure, we know that David is a mutant, and potentially a very powerful one. But that's not the whole story that Noah Hawley is interested in telling.

We've seen through Fargo that he takes ordinary people and places them in extraordinary circumstances, and while David is far from being considered 'ordinary' there is a similar approach taken here.

It's not so much the superpower aspect that's of most interest, but rather the humanity of the characters we see on screen, their relationships, romances, mental health, and the world they live in, but with the more superpowered elements thrown in for good measure.

Other shows - most noticeably Jessica Jones and Luke Cage - have done great work in being superhero shows that are about more than that, but the powers are still at the core in a way they aren't for Legion.
