Marvel's The Defenders: 23 Easter Eggs You Probably Missed

6. Protect Ya Neck

Whenever Luke Cage appears we get a reminder that his TV show had the best soundtrack of all, and in the final episode, the climactic throw-down seems to be accompanied by a choice from his iPod as Wu Tang Clan's "Protect Ya Neck" plays.

It's not an accidental choice, of course, as the song includes a line about Spider-Man - the other famous Marvel resident of New York who has just debuted in the MCU. It's the kind of gag you imagine the music director and show-runners fell about laughing at when they got it in there.

Wu-Tang Clan were featured on the soundtracks of both Iron Fist and Luke Cage, and it feels particularly fitting for that to come back into play for the ensemble piece.
