Marvel's The Punisher: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

8. O'Brien Could Come Into Things

While The Punisher featured a number of iconic characters from the comics, there was one particularly notable omission: Kathryn O'Brien, who was created by Garth Ennis.

While she didn't make it to the series, showrunner Steve Lightfoot has said he hopes to bring her in for Season 2, and the show does leave the door very much open for that to happen.

In the comics, O'Brien was the wife of William Rawlins and worked with him at the CIA, before she was betrayed and left for dead on an operation in Afghanistan. Rawlins himself plays a similar role in Punisher, but his wife only gets a passing mention and remains unnamed.

So O'Brien may not have been left for dead, but as the wife (or even ex-wife) of a man who was involved in an illegal operation and then killed by Frank Castle, there'd be plenty of motivation for her coming into things and striking up a relationship of some sort with Frank.
