Master Of None: 10 Reasons It's The Most Underrated Netflix Original Series

9. It Focuses On Small Talk

The show has probably the most interesting small talk scenes right now. From discussing Eminem lyrics to Taco apps to language differences, Master of None finds humor in regular conversations. Actually, they are the heart and soul of the show.

What's happening isn't as much important as what's being said. A given scene may start as a rather regular conversation between friends, yet naturally turn into a metaphysical talk covering crucial issues regarding love, religion or life in general. A regular person doesn't have adventures - she/he has conversations. Whether with friends or strangers, talking is the way most of us form relationships with people.

And most of these conversations are forgetful, pointless, sometimes stupid. The show relies equally on references, inside jokes and throwaway lines. And they all work great, because the writers really get how people talk. This also applies to things people don't say, like in The Thanksgiving episode in the second season.
