MCU: 10 Worst Netflix Characters

Go away, Griffin Sinclair!

The Punisher Agent Orange
Netflix

The Netflix arm of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has given us some of the best TV superheroes we've ever had - yet, at the same time, it's also delivered some pretty awful characters, too. Fans frequently talk about the shows' struggles to fill their 13 episode runtimes, and this often results in characters that either don't reach their full potential, end up missing the mark, or are just plain bad.

But what constitutes a bad character? Obviously, there are those we are meant to hate - e.g. Daredevil's antagonistic DA Reyes - and even some we are meant to find incredibly annoying - e.g. Jessica Jones' whiny Robin - but you can't call them bad as they sufficiently did their job. Likewise, there are those characters that have split the fandom - such as Daredevil's Foggy Nelson and Karen Page - as some fans can't stand them while others love them.

So who are the unequivocally worst Marvel characters in the Netflix universe? These guys don't work whatever way you look at it, from their wayward performances to the seriously lacking writing.

10. Danny Rand - Iron Fist

The Punisher Agent Orange
Netflix

Yes, let's get the obvious one out of the way first. While you have to feel bad for star Finn Jones - it can't be nice to have so much criticism flung at you online - it's hard to argue that Iron Fist isn't the weakest of Marvel and Netflix's five leading heroes. Some of that is to do with Jones simply not being as versatile a performer as some of his cast-mates, but mostly it's the fault of the writing.

The likes of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and The Punisher all offer up a compelling central character who is easy to root for. Iron Fist, however, is a petulant, filthy rich man-child who likes to tell us how awesome he is ("I'm the immortal Iron Fist, protector of K'un-L'un, sworn enemy of the Hand!") far more than he actually proves it to us.

In The Defenders, the character marginally improves as his childlike optimism provides a decent contrast with the cynicism of his fellow heroes. Still, even that show got so bored of him he was incarcerated in some way for about half the series. Here's hoping Iron Fist season 2 can fix him further.
