11. The Punisher: Season 2

After a killer debut season, season two of The Punisher - which released this past January - felt like it hit the reset button all over again on Frank Castle's story. Whereas Daredevil dove into his Punisher persona and season one of his own show dug deep into Castle himself, season two had all the potential in the world to finally let the two coexist and go balls to the wall.

Instead, season two often felt like it was holding back, afraid to let Castle simply be the Punisher until - quite literally - its final seconds, after which it was too little, too late, as the show would never get a third season to keep that ball rolling. Fortunately, Jon Bernthal is as good as ever here, and there are some good action scenes - like a bathroom brawl that eventually spills out onto a bar dance floor - but there's an oddly slow pace that drags the season down.

And while Josh Stewart's John Pilgrim turned out to be a great addition to the show, the other new villains - Corbin Bernsen and Annette O'Toole as Anderson and Eliza Schultz - turned out to be duds. Even Billy Russo, whose villainous origin was out of the way so that he could be free to be Jigsaw, felt neutered, spending more time moping than doing anything of real value.

Simply put, something just felt perpetually off about the season, lifeless in a way only Frank's targets should end up, the whole thing good in fits and bursts but ultimately falling far short of its superior predecessor.
