Netflix's Friends From College Review: 2 Ups And 4 Downs

Sometimes you're better off not staying in touch.

Friends From College, the new, eight-episode comedy series, premiered on Netflix on Friday and the reviews aren't too favorable. When taking into account the initial idea, as well as Netflix's own hit or miss comedic record - hello Flaked! - that doesn't come as a big surprise.

This becomes even more understandable considering the series' creators/writers past work. Nicholas Stoller and Francesca DelBanco, who worked together on Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him To The Greek, make movies that can be funny, but lack certain consistency that would deem them anything more than OK. Having a notion of the perks, but most of all flaws, of said movies makes it rather easy to predict the outcome of their collaboration.

The cast includes comedy veterans like Keegan-Michael Key, Cobie Smulders and Fred Savage, which should guarantee some quality (and viewership). While the actors, in most part, don't disappoint, the same can't be said about the series, which has some serious issues preventing it from reaching it's potential. The show's ceiling itself isn't even that high, as the initial premise - six friends reunite in New York City, chaos ensues - isn't that original to begin with, but it fails to even meet that
