New Girl: 10 Things That Must Happen Before It Ends

Zombie novels, kids, and a big, fat flashback.

The world is a better place with New Girl in it. There's nothing wrong with gritty medieval dramas, apocalyptic horror shows, mind-bending super hero series' but there are times when all you really need is a stupid grin from ear-to-ear. Zooey Deschanel & Co. have been treating fans to exactly that since 2011. New Girl gets nowhere near the praise it deserves in comparison to CBS' one-time comedy The Big Bang Theory, yet it really has created a heart-warming - and at times, a genuinely laugh out loud - world. We can only hope that continues for a long time to come, but will it? Ratings have never been off-the-charts for the show, with a steady decline from the beginning. Hopefully a slight increase throughout the first part of Season 5 can be enough to push it into a sixth and beyond, but you've got to think that the writers will be working towards some form of overall conclusion before long. And when that sad day comes, will the show have included these 10 things that should happen before the grand finale?

10. Jess, Meet Reagan

This is by far the most immediate thing that needs to happen in New Girl before it ends. In fact, it needs to be done within Season 5. It was shocking news to hear Zooey Deschanel would be replaced by Megan Fox during her time off from the show. It was such a risky, bizarre move, but guess what? The gamble absolutely paid off. Fox has been a genuinely hilarious addition to the group as a kind of 'anti-Jess' figure. Reagan's the total opposite to Jess, and that has provided a real breath of fresh air to the show. It seems like Deschanel will be returning to our screens within a matter of weeks, and we can only hope Fox will be around to welcome her back. It would make for a great episode, and I never thought I'd say it, but I do hope Fox continues with a recurring role on the show, however unlikely that may seem.
