New Star Trek TV Series Will Boldly Go On Netflix

Unless you live in USA and Canada.

If, like me, you gave up on the Star Trek movie franchise around midway through the last movie - then you're probably ignoring the casting of Chris Hemsworth in Star Trek 4 and instead pinning your hopes on the new TV series CBS have in the works.

In a notable international tv deal, Netflix announced today they will stream every episode of the new Star Trek show that Bryan Fuller & Alex Kurtzman are writing for a January 2017 air date.

The episodes will broadcast in 188 countries just 24 hours after CBS premieres them on their premium service. Sadly, it would appear the US and Canada's versions of Netflix won't be getting the saga, though Trekkies with the streaming service in the UK will.

In addition, all 727 episodes of Star Trek will hit Netflix around the world by the end of the year with full seasons of The Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise hitting the service. Nice!

Whether you can watch it with Netflix or not, there's plenty of reasons to be encouraged by the news. Netflix wouldn't touch the series unless they were confident that it would run for several seasons and what was seemingly once a dead franchise that TV didn't want anything to do with any more, is just over six months away from hitting warp drive once again in six months.
