Orange Is The New Black: 5 Ups And 5 Downs From Season 3

10. Bennett Takes Off - Down

For the past three years fans have been watching the relationship develop between Officer Bennett and prisoner Dayanara. Will they? Won€™t they? Can they? The show seemed ready to finally make a commitment to the couple this year, as Bennett accepted his responsibility to Daya and their child, and asked her to marry him. At last, a happy resolution and the promise of a bright future for the pair. Obviously it was never quite going to work out that way. Visiting Cesar, and Daya€™s relatives, he sees the sort of life his child would have, and the sort of people he would have to deal with and call family. This scares him off and he runs away, backed up by a flashback of his time in the army showing his cowardly behaviour. Even with the flashback it didn€™t really sell too well that he would leave just like that. After so long building the relationship between the two, it felt like a rushed and poor conclusion to their story.

NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far. A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
