Phones4u TV Campaign Takes You Back to the Future

The advert parodies the famous film.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UucLMljiDHg When it comes to trading our phones in for a new model, it can be slightly nostalgic; we€™ve often had our handset on a 2 year contract and it€™s served as the medium of communication for plenty of good and bad news. This is why Phones4U€™s Future You campaign strikes a chord. The advert parodies the famous Back to the Future film, in which a customer is mulling over her next purchase, and the salesman asks her to join him for a trip into the future. This is the cue the iconic Delorean car, and a trip to Hill Valley (the fictional Californian set of Back to the Future) where the client sees herself enjoying the celebrity lifestyle on the red carpet outside €˜Hill Valley Couture€™. Phones4U has often enjoyed a fairly irreverent, casual style in their ad campaigns. The business of network providers, upgrades, 4G and data allowances can be a fairly perplexing affair and the Phone4U advertising execs choose to present the company in an informal, ask us anything, style. You need to think about where your phone will stand in two years€™ time as it chugs along full of texts and photos, with a labouring processor and long outdated specifications. The ad is backed by a #FutureYou social media campaign, where you can consider what your future may be. In all seriousness, you may be entering a line of work where you need to be able to use Office documents, or access the net via your mobile on a regular basis. The Future You campaign advocates the fact that the Phones4U team of staff are considerate of these concerns and will guide you in a way that gets you the best deal, rather than just pedalling phones on the inexperienced buyer. The ad is slick with a catchy tune, and there€™s plenty of brand familiarity in the general design. Despite the deliberately hammy themes, the ad is also genuinely thought provoking, tapping into an element of 24 month contracts which we should give far more thought: two years down the line, how will we feel about our choice of phone.
