Preacher Season 3: 3 Ups & 1 Down From 'Hilter'

2. Everything About The New Orleans Storyline

Preacher Cassidy
AMC

While Jesse, Marie L'Angelle and Tulip repeat the same old mistakes over in Angelville, Cassidy is having a ball of a time in New Orleans. We were introduced to the Les Enfants du Sang clan last week, and the storyline has really proven to be a breath of fresh air for the show. Eccarius is a welcome addition to Preacher, and he blends right in, highlighting that he might as well have been there from the beginning. And it's not just him that fans are loving, it's the whole storyline. There's so much potential here - like, how long has Eccarius been doing what he does? Visually, the storyline is incredibly seductive. The cinematography is really lovely, as is the wonderful score that accompanies these scenes, as it intensifies the mood, adding to the atmosphere.

There is literally nothing to complain about in regards to this storyline, except for the fact that it's perhaps too engrossing. So much so, that it's making the rest of the show feel disappointing. In fact - much like Glee following the main characters' graduation - Preacher now feels like two separate shows living in the same 45-minute time slot. Perhaps what Preacher needs to do - as like Glee did - is to make a decision on what storyline to continue pursuing and thus, in effect, drop the dead weight. We'd much rather watch Cassidy and Eccarius get up to no good in New Orleans on a daily basis.
