Riverdale Season 3 Premiere: 5 Ups & 3 Downs From 'Labor Day'

3. Veronica's Character Development

Riverdale Veronica

When Veronica first showed up in the town of Riverdale, she promised to leave her privileged rich girl persona behind in New York, as she hoped of starting afresh. However, when Hiram Lodge showed up in the second season, Veronica reverted to her former self, once again became what one could only describe as her father's daughter. Mind you, the writing wasn't particularly strong enough to justify such a dramatic change in her character, but at this stage, that's beside the point.

Throughout the lengthy storyline of the previous season, Veronica got in deeper and deeper with her father, and couldn't see what was right in front of her the whole time. If Labor Day proved anything, it's that Veronica is no longer infatuated with her dad. In fact, she's the complete opposite. Knowing that it's his fault Archie is on trial, Veronica not only calls out Hiram, but disowns him entirely. The writers have finally redeemed the character, making her someone that we want to cheer for once more. It's about time.
