Launched way back in 2001, and created by Bill Lawrence, Scrubs quickly became a hit sitcom thanks to its exploration of the lives of the doctors and nurses at Sacred Heart Hospital, all seen through the eyes of John Dorian (J.D.). The show was filmed in the majority through the eyes of JD because the writers wanted each episode to come across like an entry to J.D's diary.
One of the most important characters in J.D's life, and therefore the show itself, is Dr Cox, the reluctant mentor that J.D. looks up to almost religiously. Dr Cox is often seen through J.D's eyes as the father figure he always wanted, with his own dad being a disappointment to him, but rarely does he return the same level of affection, instead making J.D. and everyone else at the hospital the subject of his barbed anger and razor-sharp humour.
How well do you know the man behind the long-winded rants?
