Sherlock Series 3: 5 Reasons To Be Excited

2014 kicks-off with a bang tomorrow with the return of these chaps...

After two long years of anticipation, the wait is just about over. At the time of writing, Sherlock will return for the first of three new 90-minute adventures in the UK tomorrow - and it's a series that's been hyped like no other. Just how did Sherlock survive the fall? We're very close to finding out - but of course, there's two other brand spanking new episodes, The Sign of Three and His Last Vow, to come. So, what's there to look forward to? In this article, I'll be listing five reasons why the return of Sherlock warrants your excitement. Oh - and very mild spoilers for series three follow (it's all been released officially, but if you're staying entirely clean then back away now).

5. How Did Sherlock Survive The Fall?

Oh Lordy. Ever since Sherlock leaped off St Bart's Hospital on 15 January 2012 only to re-appear at his own grave, theories have been non-stop - from bouncy balls to tears to dump trucks. We've been promised a resolution in The Empty Hearse, and it's been the crux of the marketing for the series so far. Sherlock is known for putting agonizing cliffhangers at the end of the series, made worse by eighteen-months-plus waits (The Great Game's cliffhanger ending was almost as bad) - but finally, after two years we can get our answer. It's unlikely that the explanation will be served to us on a platter - or if it will even live up to the impossibly lofty expectations placed on it, but it's going to be a lot of fun finding out.
