The Simpsons: 10 Characters Who Might Die In Season 26 Premiere

10. Mayor Quimby

Mayor Quimby While the long-time Mayor of Springfield certainly has his fans, it is my firm belief that he is one of the few at risk by this announcement. First, while some episodes would paint Quimby in a good light, such as the sixth seasons', "Sideshow Bob Roberts" - which put Quimby against Sideshow Bob as they both run for Mayor - in reality he is not, and never has been, a very nice man. If you have even a slight knowledge of The Simpson's history, you will see that over the years Quimby has: bent the law to get him out of trouble, accepted countless bribes, cheated on his wife with several mistresses and even a secret family, and to top it off he seems to know little about the city he is in charge of - once referring to it as "Sprungfeld." Now that's not to say that killing him off would be okay just because he isn't very nice, however it would certainly be much sadder to see someone like the all-forgiving Ned Flanders lose his life as he has done very little wrong in his time in Springfield - not to mention he'd be leaving behind two young boys who have already lost their mother. Also, from a story-telling perspective Mayor Quimby's passing could be a dramatic episode which goes into some of Springfield's darkest corners. Now while The Simpsons has never been about telling deep, mature tales just think about the possibilities: Quimby has made many deals with Springfield gangs in the past, and so it's not out of the question that someone might want him dead. Even if that someone is Simpsons' executive producer Al Jean...
