Star Trek: 10 Awesome Actors We Want As Future Captains

9. David Tennant

The Tenth Doctor himself! While best known as being the tenth actor to portray The Doctor, Tennant (like Shatner and Stewart) got some of his earliest acting roles doing Shakespeare. This previous experience has enabled him to bring many different characters to life in exciting and often-times intense ways. While Shakespeare was his training, he seems most at ease in roles where he plays a character that is seemingly charming and quirky, but when pressed, can reveal a darker side. This would make him perfectly suited to playing a captain on Star Trek, especially one that is a warm father figure to his crew, but capable of putting his foot down, and showing no mercy to those who threaten the safety of his friends and ship.
