Star Trek: 20 Essential Gifts For Trekkies

18. An Enterprise Bottle Opener

Star Trek Enterprise Bottle Opener I don't know about you, but there are certainly a fair few bottles that require opening in most households I've seen come Christmas time. So if you want to boldly open a bottle like no man has before, then this is the bottle opener for you. There are several items in this sort of line, with the ships of Star Trek re-imagined as house hold tools and I've got to say - despite my previous reservations they are growing on me. Besides, with both the Bird of Prey and the Enterprise all your bottle needs will be met. Again Forbidden Planet has this the cheapest I can find at £8.99. But really I'm not sure I'd risk damaging the thing by using it as I'm pretty sure I've bent every bottle opener I've ever used. It sure is pretty. Considering that they've brought out alternative designs for something coming up later in this list, I wouldn't be surprised if next year we had a Next Generation version around as well - plus if they went for the different type of bottle opener, then I'm certain that a USS Defiant version could be made as well.

17. Star Trek: Ships Of The Line

Star Trek Ships Of The Line The yearly ships calendar €“ known as the Ships of the Line calendar in the states €“ has become a bit of an institution. They've been going for several years now and has become a big hit with fans. Over in the UK they're not easy to get, because we actually get a completely different calendar €“ do not confuse with the UK Star Trek Ships calendar with the US Star Trek Ships of the Line Calendar. The difference is in the images inside, whilst the American version tends to have unique images in each year's edition, the British version has some rather more stock-style photos. For example, this year's US version includes images of the USS Enterprise-J, the IXS Enterprise and the Space Shuttle Enterprise being towed through space - all unique to just that calendar. So it is great that the images from the American calendars have been compiled into an easier to obtain reference guide. It won't include the images mentioned above €“ they're in this year's calendar, but instead contains shots from the 2001 through 2006 editions, along with additional text by Michael Okuda. Forbidden Planet has it on their website for £9.66.
