Star Trek: Picard Finale Review - 3 Ups And 5 Downs From Et In Arcadia Ego (Part 2)

Not all good things come to an end.

Well, this is it. 10 episodes, thousands of light-years, and all the associated hours of our free-time have led us here. A settlement full of synthetic life, working to summon an all-powerful superpredator alien race to the galaxy, and wipe out trillions of lives in the process. Oh, and a fleet of Romulans, who may actually be the good guys in all of this, are coming to eradicate them.

It's fair to say that Star Trek: Picard hasn't been plain sailing. Many fans have turned away from the show with accusations of underwhelming narratives, conflicting character representation, and it just simply not being the Star Trek they knew and loved. Those that have stuck with it though have found themselves rewarded with a fascinating story that's slowly unfolded over its first season, and given us some great individual moments to add to the show's decades-spanning lore.

As with every debut effort though, Picard's success (or otherwise) is dependant on its ability to successfully stick the landing. Deliver on the many interesting premises they've set up and excitement will be high for Season 2 but, underwhelm at this most critical moment and they'll have an uphill battle from day 1. Let's see what's out there...
