Stranger Things Season 3: 8 Biggest Questions After The Trailer

Was that monster a person?

After a near two-year wait, Stranger Things 3 is almost upon us.

The upcoming third season of Netflix's beloved sci-fi series will be set in the summer of 1985 which, as many summers do, promises to bring great change for the young protagonists. However, it doesn't take long for a certain parallel dimension to rear its (very) ugly head and, in doing so, spread panic across the small town of Hawkins one more time.

Ahead of its release in July, Netflix have released the first trailer for Season 3 and, well, let's just say that things look stranger than ever before. Focusing on the boys' journey into adolescence, it teases us with the notion that they may be ready to move on from the events that happened over the previous two years. Of course, the Upside Down has other ideas and, before long, things get weird.

With disjointed glimpses of new threats, bizarre twists and even Hollywood vets Cary Elwes and Jake Busey, the trailer was more of a three-minute tease than anything else. But it was packed full of intriguing shots - many of which left fans with some major questions.

8. How Did Eleven and Max Become Friends?

One of the more pleasantly surprising aspects of the Season 3 trailer was the emphasis on what appeared to be a burgeoning friendship between Eleven and the gang's newest member, Max.

While we all knew that both of them would remain members of the show's 'Scooby gang', it appears that this year will bring them closer than either of them, especially Eleven, ever thought possible - as they end up visiting the mall together and even get all dressed up in some gloriously '80s fashion.

If you recall, Max was initially in awe of Eleven based on her reputation alone (after listening to the stories that Mike, Dustin and Lucas told), so she was overwhelmed when she actually met her in person. The same, however, could not be said for Eleven, who didn't appreciate how close Max had become to the group, especially Mike, in her absence. Even when the whole group celebrated the Mind Flayer's defeat, these two weren't exactly besties.

It's going to be interesting to see how the dynamic between them has changed this season as we'll finally get a chance to see 'El' interact with another girl her own age. Of course, the time-jump will probably be used to explain away a lot but let's just hope we do at least find out how these unlikely allies ended up becoming friends.
