It was revealed a little while back that Superman would finally be showing up in Supergirl during its second season, and then we got the news that Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf) had been cast as the Man of Steel.
Now The CW, which is the new home of the series, has revealed the first look at Hoechlin donning the Big Blue Boy Scout's classic uniform. It looks, well, a lot like Superman really, although erring closer to the version we've seen in the recent big screen outings Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, rather than the classic comics one with the red pants. It's also got the traditional yellow and red symbol, standing apart from his cousin Kara's take on it.
As for Hoechlin, he certainly looks every inch of the slicked-hair, strong-jawed all-American superhero, and it'll be interesting to see just what he brings to the role beyond that. He's currently slated to appear in the first two episodes of Supergirl Season 2, and then expected to recur throughout - perhaps even popping up in the four-way crossover with Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow, because there aren't enough heroes involved already.
Supergirl Season 2 will get underway on October 10.

A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
