Needless to say, season 8 of Game of Thrones has been a whirlwind adventure. Every fan seems to have a completely different take on the events of the final six episodes, with a vast array of differing opinions dominating most of the conversation surrounding the end of one of the greatest shows TV has ever seen.

The negativity is vast, and it's easy to get caught up in all of it. So instead it's a good idea to take a look at the great moments this season had to offer and appreciate the incredible work of the cast we've grown to love for almost a decade.

Whether you enjoyed these scenes for their plot or character development choices or not, it's impossible to say these weren't sublime examples of why this cast has become so celebrated. With the Emmys not too far away, let's remind ourselves of why the cast are going to deserve their nominations with every ounce of their being.

10. Sansa And Daenerys Exchange “Pleasantries”

Comical in its awkwardness, this scene really brought home both queens’ dedication to their rule.

Sophie Turner is the absolute star of this scene, from her forced pleasantries to gradual moments of humour and trust in Daenerys, to reaching out and holding hands with mutual respect, right back to rigid solidarity in her fight for the north.

It’s hard to forget Daenerys’ forced smile of sisterhood, but Turner’s subtly held smile throughout and the realisation that it’s slowly returning to a smirk as she asserts her power is crucial to understanding her character. As Emilia Clarke’s pursed lips return and her hand is drawn away, in the space of two minutes these women have exemplified the falsehoods of loyalty and respect as well as their devotion to their respective causes.
