The Big Bang Theory has soared to the heights of TV with millions tuning in for every episode that sees Leonard, Sheldon, Penny and the gang caught up in a whole range of geeky scenarios.

A lot of the show's appeal hinges on its current nature, with a hot grasp of pop-culture and the very latest trends in the worlds of film, TV, gaming, science and more. This all adds up to a huge sense of realism, even if the situations they find themselves in are off the wall.

Star Trek and Doctor Who are referenced more times than its possible to count, the latest internet trends are played out into entire episodes, the latest issues from the real world are transferred onto the screen, and the entire set is designed to be bright, modern and brimming with character.

The group collect and hoard endless items, so it's no surprise to see so many of them lying around their apartments during episodes. That means that hiding specific easter eggs was a challenge among the clutter, with so many in-jokes and references already made.

However they do still exist, so here are 21 easter eggs that you may not have seen buried within The Big Bang Theory.

21. 109 Images In The Credits

The logical place to start is at the very beginning. The Big Bang Theory credits are instantly recognisable, and resisting the urge to sing along is virtually impossible, but do you actually know what's actually being shown while you're busy trying to squeeze the words in?

There are 109 images highlighting the progression of mankind played throughout the credits with a Playstation, Mysta Bot, floppy discs, breakdancers, Martin Luther King, paintings of wars throughout history, space launches, even 'the pill' all make an appearance. Also during some of the title credits you'll see the gang gathering around eating pizzas while poor old Leonard has to deal with a plate of meat and vegetables.
