4. Penny Landing A Big Actressing Job
How much longer are the show's writers going to have Penny slave away in the cheesecake factory for and not live up to her potential as an actress? It's become a bit of a running joke in the series now, with Sheldon often ribbing her for her lack of ambition. Since the show began, we've seen Howard go into outer space, Leonard go on expeditions to the North Pole and latterly North Sea, and practically all the other main cast members land jobs in biology, neuroscience and physics. It's time Penny got a "professional" job and kick-started her career. With Leonard away for four months, now would seem as good a time as any for her to throw herself headlong into her career. We've seen her pick up a few small-time gigs in the past such as taking part in stage plays, musicals and even a haemorrhoid commercial, but nothing major. What if she landed an actressing role in some sitcom? She may even have to move, which could be a further strain on the Leonard/Penny relationship and throw up some interesting questions. Leonard had to go away for a while to further his career, maybe Penny will one day be faced with a similar challenge.
