The Boys: 8 Worst Things The Seven Have Done

Someone needs to spank the b*stards when they step out of line.

The movie and TV market is currently incredibly saturated by superhero content, from the long standing juggernaut that is the MCU, to the upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event and the wild success of Joker. In all of this however, The Boys still manages to stand out as something special.

Based on the Garth Ennis comic of the same name, The Boys introduced us to a world where superheroes aren’t just protectors of the innocent - they are a commodity; assets whose job it is to save lives and be heroic, but only if it makes financial sense for Vought International. Job one is make money, and this has led to these heroes caring less and less for the public they are supposed to protect.

The Seven are to Vought what the Avengers are to Marvel, and the Justice League to DC. They are Vought’s biggest money makers, made up of Translucent, Black Noir, The Deep, Queen Maeve, A-Train, newcomer Starlight, and their leader, Homelander.

With the exception of Annie January, the members of this team are concerned only with their popularity points, and as long as they look like heroes, neither they nor Vought care what they get up to. Naturally, having people gifted with both amazing abilities and a lack of any conscience resulted in questionable choices, and some down right awful actions.

8. The Deep Sexually Assaulted Starlight

Before, and even after she became Starlight, Annie January always loved and wanted to be part of the Seven. She even had posters on her wall, but not of Homelander like everyone else. Her biggest idol was the Deep.

When the girl from Iowa beat thousands of applicants from across the world to fill Lamplighter’s place in the super team, she thought her dreams had come true. Particularly when she was introduced to her adoring public sharing the stage with her childhood crush.

This was incredibly short lived however. The tour of her new office by the Deep ended in the aquatic super hero threatening to have the seventh member expelled from the team before she even started, unless she performed oral sex.

Seeing no other option, and being unaware of the lack of sway the Deep held with the rest of the team, Starlight gave in to her teammate’s demands. This is the worst kind of power abuse, and no one could blame Annie for threatening to burn his eyes out afterwards.
