The Daily Show: 10 Hosts Who Should Replace Jon Stewart

Next up: 10 Last Week Tonight Hosts who should replace John Oliver.

Shocking €“ well, if not the world, then the people in the world who get their left-leaning news from comedy shows rather an straight journalism, so long as they have access to the right cable package and/or can use Tunnel Bear €“ this week Jon Stewart announced he would be stepping down as host of The Daily Show. And, to be fair, he probably deserves a break after fifteen straight years in the job. During that time, he's barely had any breaks. Rob Corddry filled in as host for one episode, and Stephen Colbert took over for a handful before he got his own show, but Stewart's first extended sojourn away from hosting duties happened in the summer of 2013, when he was busy directing the political drama Rosewater. Perhaps the writing was on the wall even then €“ Stewart wanted to move onto different things. It's not quite the unprecedented blow for The Daily Show as it seems (Stewart wasn't even the original host; he replaced Craig Kilborn, who fronted the first two years of the show), but it was something of a shock. It looks like it was even something of a surprise to Comedy Central, who are know put in the unenviable position of finding a suitable replacement. Who should they go with, though? A veteran of the show? New talent? Or something completely outside of the box? Here are ten hosts who should replace Jon Stewart on The Daily Show.
