The Defenders: 8 Major New Reveals From Marvel And Netflix

8. Netflix Are Sticking To Just Two Marvel Shows A Year

Remember when Kevin Feige said Marvel Studios would release only two movies a year? Well, that plan has obviously changed as the Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown and we enter Phase 3, and with the way things are going in Netflix's corner of this world, chances are that we could end up seeing as many as four or five of these shows in any given year. Maybe. Netflix CCO Ted Sarandos had this to say about the chances of expanding their Marvel output in the next few years: "It's possible, right now, these are produced at the scale of a major film, so they're long production times and long post times. In some cases we have character crossover, which makes it more difficult to manage production in a way to jam two or three in. It's not the goal, certainly, to put more than one or two out a year." He raises some interesting issues there, but with Daredevil breaking ratings records, they may not have any other choice than to increase that number. Whether or not they will remains to be seen and no doubt hinges around the success of shows like Luke Cage and Iron Fist, but for now, it definitely appears as if these show will be a twice a year event for fans.
