The Flash Season 2: 8 Ups And 3 Downs From 'Rupture'

What went right and wrong when another particle accelerator accident exploded?

The CW

After last week's revelation that Harrison Wells wanted to create another particle accelerator accident in order for Barry Allen to get his now-lost superspeed back, this latest episode of The CW's Scarlet Speedster-centric show saw Barry pondering with the question of whether to go through with Wells' plan or not.

Of course, the reason why Barry so desperately wants his speed back is part in order to help take down uber-rogue Zoom. In this latest offering, we got to see Zoom as his devastating best as he returns to Earth-1 to cause chaos for Team Flash and the CCPD, and he's also brought along another villain for the ride: Rupture, the Earth-2 version of Dante Ramon.

With all of this to contend with, not to mention the return of his pops and a declaration of love from Iris, there was certainly a lot going on for poor Barry Allen in this outing. And as ever, the episode had its good points and bad points.

In fairness, Rupture certainly ticked a lot more of the positive boxes than the negative ones, and so let's now take a look at just what this episode got spot on and what maybe wasn't so great.

11. Ups...

Leeroy Jenkins

This particular “up” is one of those things that will be a huge up if you have any idea of the reference. If not, it was essentially just Cisco Ramon saying a random word whilst a hologram of The Flash rushed a group of criminals. That word was simply “Leeroy”.

The Leeroy in question is Leeroy Jenkins, a name made famous for a widespread online video depicting a game of World of Warcraft. Whilst a group of gamers all gathered to discuss an attack plan ahead of going into battle, this intricate, formulated assault was brought to a crashing holt when Leeroy returned to the game (apparently he’d gone to get some chicken) and rushed into fight the good fight whilst bellowing his own name as a war cry of sorts. This in turn ruined the attack plan and saw all of the players massacred. But hey, at least Leroy had his chicken.

For anyone aware of this video, this was a brilliant grin-inducing “up” to start the episode. For those who have never heard of Leeroy Jenkins, though, take a little look at the brief clip below:
