The Flash Season 2 Finale: 10 Big Questions We're Asking After 'The Race Of His Life'

The Season 2 finale of The Flash was always going to struggle to live up to the first. That instalment, Fast Enough, is the benchmark for the entire series - and arguably superhero show finales in general.

The second season, while having some high points, was a lot more mixed than its debut outing, especially as it had a weaker villain in play. It was surprising, then, that the finale decided not just to revisit last year's, but completely turn it on its head.

Titled The Race of His Life, the episode sees Barry having a literal race with Zoom, because reasons (the villain wants to be the fastest, but oh also he's suddenly got this device that could wipe out the multiverse). Zoom's motivations have been so poorly established that it was hard to care at times about this part of the finale, but once that was dealt with the show went all-in on a bunch of twists and turns that could have major repercussions on the series.

In fairness the finale, no matter how good, wasn't going to suddenly elevate Season 2 (which was still enjoyable, but it had problems with its villain and all the Legends of Tomorrow setup), so instead it's really raised the stakes for Season 3. It gave some big answers, not least finally revealing the man in the iron mask, but it left some even bigger questions in its wake.

10. Will Season 3 Spend More Time With Young Barry?

Given the state this episode leaves things in, with Barry saving his mother, it means big changes will take place on The Flash. Could one of those be spending more time with a young Barry, and seeing more of Nora and Henry together?

It's something the show hasn't explored much of (given Nora's been dead), but now they've actually got a chance to do it. Not necessarily as the bulk of the show, but they could feature parts of it to show how different Barry's life is growing up with both of his parents around, and it allows us to spend more time with Nora and Henry, which would be nice to see.
