The Flash Season 5: 3 Ups & 3 Downs From ‘Cause And XS’

3. Spotlight For Cisco

The Flash Season 5 Cisco Ramon
The CW

It's safe to say that we haven't seen enough of Cisco Ramon this season. S.T.A.R. Labs' resident nerd has been off working on the metahuman cure in a secluded Tannhauser facility and thus, we were left without cool villain codenames and obscure film references for quite a few episodes. But thankfully, 'Cause and XS' changed all that.

Preparing for his date with the lovely Kamilla, Cisco was nervous about coming off as too geeky, a fear that made him susceptible to the awful advice of one Ralph Dibny. So, as Nora continually traveled back in time, we got to see multiple versions of his first date - all of which ended poorly because Kamilla wasn't fond of smug businessmen, gym goers or social media influencers. However, due to his vibing abilities, he was able to catch himself up on what he did wrong in the previous timelines and ultimately corrected those mistakes in his final do-over.

With the character's lack of recent appearances, and the rumours surrounding his potential departure in the future, it was nice to see Cisco get some love this week. As one of the most integral parts of the show, it's hard to imagine how this Flash-shaped machine would function without him. He's one of the core characters and, when the writers get it right, he absolutely steals the show. This was the case here, as the litany of first dates provided the episode with some light-hearted levity - the perfect contrast to the heart-racing thrills of the main storyline.

Welcome back, Cisco.
