The Flash Season 5: 6 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Godspeed'

Ups...

6. The Answers We've Been Waiting For

The Flash Nora West Allen
The CW

In response to Nora's revelation, the team decided that the best way to truly understand what caused her to work with Thawne was to read her journal. This resulted in the vast majority of the episode flashing back (or, in Team Flash's case, flashing forward) to Nora's pre-speedster days as a CSI in a very "schway" 2049 Central City.

By letting us see what a day in the life of Nora West-Allen looked like, it allowed us to learn more about her and, in doing so, empathise with a character who had previously withheld too much information to derive those feelings from us before now.

Just like her father, Nora was struck by lightning, became a speedster (though she was unaware that she was always a speedster), watched a loved one get murdered by another speedster and ultimately had to rely on a version of Harrison Wells/Eobard Thawne to take down her archenemy.

Flash-forward, flashback, call it what you will, but the episode itself proved to be instrumental in allowing viewers and, more importantly, Team Flash to understand why she turned to Reverse-Flash in the first place and, with the exception of Barry himself, it does seem like they're beginning to get it.
