The Simpsons: 10 Absolute Worst Episodes Ever

9. Kill The Alligator And Run

Beginning with Homer developing insomnia and going insane because of it, this scattered episode immediately has one of the most troubling introductions. Working on the played-out narrative of 'protagonist goes insane', the episode deals with Homer's mental issues rather insensitively and something that can be fixed with one simple, ludicrous party.

Furthermore, this ableist depiction of the depressed is rather insensitive; assuming that insanity or depression can be solved or even the implication that it is a fake illness is a particularly bad choice.

From that point onwards, the episode gets much worse. Fatally, the Simpson family has no qualms with killing an animal and then running from the law, without even a disapproving remark from Lisa or Marge, when dependable character traits are pretty much the least that fans should expect.
