Of the 300+ characters voiced by Hank Azaria on The Simpsons, less than a third ever make a second or third appearance.

Of the 300+ characters voiced by Hank Azaria on The Simpsons, less than a third ever make a second or third appearance. For every Moe the Bartender and Bumblebee Man, there are three cult leaders, two "Grand Pumpkins", and one Happiest Man In Springfield. But those one-time characters- while not the type of characters the show relies on capturing the audience's emotions- often have the best laugh-out-loud moments of an episode. Discounting crowd appearances, flashback episodes, and the occasional sight-gag for the most hardcore fans of the show, the following 10 one-off characters voiced by Hank Azaria appeared only the one time. Either they were crucial to the plot of a top episode; or they had the laugh-of-the-night; or their lone appearance has spurned quotes and repeats from fanboys decades after.

10. Linguo The Grammar Robot

Episode: "Trilogy of Error," Season 12. Linguo is a grammar-correcting robot invented by Lisa for the Springfield Elementary Science Fair. Homer nearly destroyed it early on, misunderstanding its grammar correction of his statement "Me like beer" for the robot stating "I like beer"; Lisa missed her bus fixing Linguo, and had to hitchhike to school to compete. Through a series of comedic errors, the robot ends up in the hands of mobsters Legs and Louie. Their terrible grammar ("Whatsamatta you?", "Shuttupa yo face" etc.) caused Linguo to overheat, and the sparks blew up both a bag of illegal fireworks and, eventually, Linguo. Funniest Moment: Linguo's head, exploded from its body, ends up at the feet of Homer. Homer: "Linguo... dead?" Linguo: "Linguo... IS... dead..."
