It's been a few months now since the sixth season of The Walking Dead concluded, and while the big, divisive cliffhanger ending still seems to be the primary topic of conversation about the season, it shouldn't overshadow a year that gave fans some incredible episodes, amazing moments, and, of course, a number of unforgettable deaths.

The series has never been a stranger to death, having featured a number of character losses over its run, some of which have been welcome, others heartbreaking. Despite a handful of fake-outs regarding Glenn and the unresolved death that closed out the year, season six was no different, with friends and foes of Rick and the gang alike all meeting their ends in gruesome, shocking, exhilarating, and/or tragic ways.

With the show's seventh season drawing closer, let's take a spoiler-filled look back at last season to sort out whose deaths - sans Lucille's unconfirmed victim - were unforgettable...

The Episode: Here's Not Here

After the roller-coaster ride of action that comprised the first three episodes of the season, this Morgan-centric episode served as a way for viewers to catch their breath. It turned back the clock to get everyone up to speed on everything Morgan had been up to between his appearance in season three and reemergence in season five, and introduced Eastman and his goat Tabitha in the process.

Over the course of the episode, Eastman helped pull Morgan back from the brink of insanity, instilling within him the pacifist ideals he held on to so strongly throughout the rest of the season, and thanks to a solid performance by John Carroll Lynch, it was easy to hope he'd somehow avoid inevitable death. Unfortunately, neither Eastman nor Tabitha made it, the former getting bit before choosing to end his own life and the latter being devoured by walkers, leaving Morgan on his own once more.
