The Walking Dead 5.1 Review - 5 Talking Points From "Strangers In A Strange Land"

Welcome to the BobBQ.

€œYou€™ll burn for this.€ As we continue our journey through the fifth season of AMC€™s smash hit The Walking Dead, we find our group of survivors back on the move after the battle and destruction of the €œsanctuary€ known as Terminus. Thanks to the efforts of Carol and an accompanying zombie horde, the Terminus residents have been displaced and fled into the countryside, the same as Rick and the gang. But are they as well equipped to handle the rigors of constant movement, foraging for supplies and never getting a moment to breathe? €œStrangers In A Strange Land€ introduced a new character with a mysterious past, gave us a fleeting glimpse of information regarding someone who€™s been missing since a few episodes before the season four finale and added a different dimension to an already existing threat. The Walking Dead is at its most effective when there is danger coming from all sides, and other than the temporary refuge found in the church, the lack of a secure place to lay their heads has ratcheted up the tension. A major decision was made this episode, in the group€™s agreement with Abraham that they should head for Washington D.C. in hopes of Eugene being able to cure the zombie plague. The only real complaint about this is that in season one when they visit the CDC, they€™re told that D.C. has been wiped out as well and all forms of infrastructure have been completely eradicated. In the comics we€™ve never gotten any kind of hint on what€™s going on outside of the bubble the characters live in, and the visit to the CDC is a detail that puts a kink in the mission to Washington aspect of the story. Otherwise it€™s a major moment where Rick and company decide to stop just surviving and begin working toward building a future for humanity. As for what they€™ll find if they ever make it that far? We€™ll have to wait and see. But if current events are any indication it€™ll be a while before our survivors get any glimpse of the nation€™s capital. Because right now, they€™re being hunted.
