The Walking Dead: 8 Dumbest Moments In Rick's Last Episode

8. Rick Blowing Up The Bridge He's Standing On

The Walking Dead Rick

Even if he doesn't technically die, Rick still makes the ultimate sacrifice in his final episode. Unfortunately, it's a sacrifice he totally didn't have to make.

Staring down a walker horde that will tear straight through him (alongside the Hilltop and Alexandria), with his friends and family prepared to jump into the fray to lead it away (which would inevitably lead to death), Rick shoots a pile of dynamite, blowing up the bridge and himself to save everyone. The blast doesn't kill him, but it does send him into the river below along with the walkers, meaning all of the other survivors think he's dead.

However, he totally could have just taken a step back before he shot the dynamite and still saved the day. Though there are a few walkers getting over to his side, most of them are yet to make their way over the bridge. There's nothing stopping him taking a few steps back and shooting the explosives from afar.

Yeah, you could make the argument that an injured Rick wouldn't have accurately made the shot from further away, but that would have been just as much of a plot contrivance as anything else in this sequence.
