The Walking Dead: Ranking The Likelihood Of Who Died In The Season 6 Finale

Eeny, meeny, miney, mo...

"We pissing our pants yet?"

Well, that was quite the introduction to Negan, for reasons both good and bad. Only The Walking Dead could deliver one of its very best scenes and one if its very worst at the same time, and they somehow achieved that feat in the Season 6 finale.

After 50 minutes of slow-building tension in the extended episode, things ratcheted up several notches in the closing 10, with the group in the woods surrounded by Saviours, and then Negan finally made his grand entrance.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan looked and sounded superb, immediately captivating and threatening (and weirdly funny), and the setup for the final moments couldn't have been better. He had them exactly where he wanted, gave a great speech, and then decided to leave his choice to 'eeny, meeny, miney, mo', as all life and death choices should be.

And then: swing and a miss. Well, okay, he hit someone, but we don't know who, which was a big miss on the part of the show. The cliffhanger felt like a bit of a cop out, because everyone was expecting to see a recognisable head on the receiving end of Lucille. Now we're going to have to wait over half-a-year before we find out exactly who died in the Season 6 finale, which is frustrating, but it does mean the speculation can begin...

11. Rick

The Walking Dead likes to make us think that no one is safe, and anyone could die. However, this isn't really true, because there's absolutely no way they're killing off Rick Grimes. Maybe in the series finale, whenever that day comes, but not before then unless Andrew Lincoln has a massive change of heart about starring on the show.

Lincoln is the lead actor, and Rick is the leader of the group. He's the focal point of the show, the one through whose eyes we were introduced to this new world, and going forward it's still going to be centred around him. Rick's not necessarily the best character on The Walking Dead, but he is the most important.

If you're looking for a reason specific to this episode, as Negan says Carl's eye will be fed to him if anyone tries to stop the beating. So unless you're trying to feed an eye to a person whose head you've just turned to mush, it definitely isn't Rick on the receiving end of Lucille.

Likelihood Of Being Dead: 1/10
