THE WALKING DEAD Season 2 Premiere Draws 7.3 Million Viewers!

Sunday’s season 2 premiere of The Walking Dead pulled in an impressive 7.3 million viewers and that’s not including the repeat which pushed that figure up to 11 million!

It€™s official, zombies rule! No they may not have the glamour or sex appeal of vampires but what they do have is viewers and plenty of them. Sunday€™s season 2 premiere of The Walking Dead pulled in an impressive 7.3 million viewers and that€™s not including the repeat which pushed that figure up to 11 million. According to AMC that€™s up over 30% on its season 1 debut last year. Season 1 had an average of 3.5 million viewers per episode so the new episode also beat the season finale which drew in 6 million viewers, making Sunday night€™s episode a series high. Not only that it also broke records in two key demographics, 4.8 million in adults 18-49 and 4.2 million in adults 25-54. That€™s more adults in the demo than any cable series in history according to EW;
"'The Walking Dead' is one of those rare television programs that reaches both a core genre fan as well as broad audiences simply looking for a great, character-based story," said AMC president Charlie Collier.
Can the rest of the season live up to such a strong opening? Especially following the departure of show runner Frank Darabont, he who wrote the first few episodes of the new season before leaving. The real test for the show will be the middle of this season where new show runner Glen Mazzara steps in and his direction really takes hold of the series. What did you think of the first episode? Will you be tuning in next week?
