The Walking Dead Season 5 Finale: 10 Big Questions That Need Answering

Just what will Season 6 have in store for us?

Have you got your breath back? The dust has barely settled following The Walking Dead Season 5 finale, but fans are already tormented wondering how the latest events will set up the sixth series of AMC's hit show. The extended finale took most people by surprise, with the writers opting against an all-out civil war in the Alexandria safe-zone, and instead smoothing out a lot of the storylines we've seen played out across this season. Within minutes of 'Conquer' starting, the fans found out the meaning of the 'W' carved into some walkers' heads, while they also got another glimpse of Morgan, though now he's fully adept at beating off attackers with a stick. His new weapon saved the lives of Daryl and Aaron who had fallen into a trap involving disco lights, loud music and food trucks bursting with walkers, while Carol threatened to slit the throat of wife-beating Pete. Devious Nicholas wounded Glenn, while Sasha, fresh from an afternoon nap in a shallow grave full of dead walkers, sprang into meltdown mode, as did Father Gabriel who killed his first walker. That's just skimming over the main plot lines, but the important fact is that nearly everyone survived. It could've been so easy for Glenn to turn around and finally end Nicholas. It could have been so easy for the intertwining breakdowns of Sasha and Gabriel to end in a double death, and even Daryl and Aaron weren't safe. The writers did a great job in tying up a lot of stories, with Abraham and Eugene's reconciliation and Tara waking up also adding to the satisfaction. But let's not forget the fact that while everyone else featured heavily, this was Rick's episode of redemption, and a showcase of what he can do to benefit the group. His speech at the end was delivered superbly, and it was nice to see him regaining some power and commanding respect. Pete's last-ditch murder of old-timer Reg was shocking, but that paved the way for Deanna green-lighting Rick to finish Pete, and ultimately unite the group, but what questions did the finale raise, and what can we expect from Season 6? Let's find out.
