The Walking Dead Season 7: 6 Ups And 2 Downs From 'Hostiles And Calamities'

Negan and Eugene both make their return this week. Only one of these is a good thing.

"An Alexandrian finds themselves having to navigate the mysterious, confusing, and terrifying world within The Saviours's compound."

That's the official synopsis of the eleventh episode of The Walking Dead's seventh season, which at first glance sounds pretty intriguing. The Sanctuary is a location we haven't seen too much of, and spending time there with an Alexandrian (Daryl) gave us some very strong scenes in the first half of the season.

But then you realise that the Alexandrian in question is Eugene, and it makes you wonder just how well the episode is going to work. After all, Eugene isn't terribly interesting or even likeable.

Surprisingly, though, the episode - which doesn't feature Rick, Daryl or any of the other main heroes - continues the strong run of form since the mid-season break. Negan comes back into things as a truly malevolent force, the spotlight once again shines on Dwight, and even Eugene gets at least one cool moment.

Honourable Mention: Easy Street

Ok, so not exactly a major part of the episode, but man it was good to hear this song again, and I like its return as a Sanctuary-based running gag. Now onto the real stuff (which contains spoilers).
