The Walking Dead Season 9: 2 Ups & 3 Downs From ‘Omega’

2. Henry's Future Potential Is Explored

As previously mentioned, the majority of Omega is devoted to the Hilltop crew and their attempts to learn some information from Lydia in regards to The Whisperers' motivations.

As Henry remains in the cell opposite the young woman following his late night binge-drinking escapades, he decides to give questioning her a go. In the past, the young man has been somewhat of an annoying plot trope - and convenience - utilised for no other purpose than to initiate chaos. Since the time jump, however, the character has grown significantly, and boasts a great deal of potential for The Walking Dead's new era.

Since the showrunners screwed up with Carl, Henry could give them the opportunity to rectify their mistake. As one of the only remaining youths on the show, it's vital that viewers establish a relationship with him early on - and the character's actions in this particular episode allow for us to do just that.

With the exception of Judith's worldly wisdom (and the less said about that the better), an optimistic outlook is something that has been significantly lacking in the AMC series as of late, so Henry is a bit of a blessing in this respect.

Again, the character is full of potential. Let's just hope that said potential is realised before he meets his maker, because if history has taught us anything, this usually isn't the case with TWD.
